“Tragically, the grandmother who was busy with household chores, thought the girls were playing quietly next door and did not want to disturb them, and it was several hours before she noticed they were missing. When she found them in the fridge there were already dead.”

The parents of the girls had been working at the time and had left them with their grandmother to look after.

Anya’s mother Katerina Loushkina, 27, had a breakdown when she was told her only daughter was dead. Her sister Elena Loushkina, 32, who has three other children, all sons, had only recently become a single mother.
