When a police officer from Long Beach, Mississippi was just doing his job, things got out of control. Officer Todd Frazier pulled over a car to give them a friendly warning. Their lights were off and the man in the front seat seemed to be passed out. Officer Frazier wanted to make sure every in his community was safe. But his generosity would quickly backfire…
Instead of finding a man who was unwell, Officer Frazier was ambushed. Two men distracted him and the driver jumped out of the vehicle to restrain him. With the officer under their control, the trio of thugs began dragging him into the Mississippi woods where they wanted to do awful things to the cop…
Frazier had almost given up hope. But then he realized now was the perfect chance to unleash his secret weapon…
Without the perpetrators realizing it, Officer Frazier activated a small key chain. This button unlocked the doors to his squad car and they opened.
His loyal and deadly K-9 officer named Lucas jumped out of the vehicle with his teeth bared. He chased down the thugs before they could have their way with the vulnerable cop. Lucas bite on of the bad guys and scared the other two away.
If it wasn’t for Lucas, Officer Frazier could have been abused or worse. And he might not have lived to tell the tale…
Chief Deputy Don Bass explained in the report, “They told him they were going to slit his throat, and they were dragging him toward the woods. The attackers meant to drag Frazier into the woods, kill him, and dump his body.”
Frazier did not escape the ambush unscathed. He suffered multiple bodily injuries and a two-and-a-half-inch cut on his forehead – doctors believe it was from a boxcutter.
After K-9 Officer Lucas saved Officer Frazier from the backwoods criminals, Frazier called in the ambulance and was rushed to the hospital. There he received treatment and was deemed well enough to discharge. He went home to finish his recovery. But he is still suffering from the trauma of the ambush.
Later Bass admitted that the incident was probably gang related. The Long Beach police have been dealing with gang activity in the area as two rival gangs are engaged in warfare. The police are stuck in the middle.
“We’ve been stressing this for months and months now. It’s no different from last week. We get a BOLO (be-on-the-lookout) from the state alerting us that the Black Gangster Disciples have put out an SOS, or Shoot on Sight, for police officers,” Chief Bass admitted. “For a couple of months we’ve been preaching safety because we knew our location between New Orleans and on the I-10 corridor… it’s going to happen here.”
Although Lucas bit one of the thugs, all three remain at large. Police are asking the public to help identify the criminals. They are desperate to bring them to justice because they attacked one of their own.
Bass and Officer Frazier ask anyone with information to call the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department at (228) 255-9191.
